A summoner is a unique deviation of sorcerer having the ability to call forth powerful creatures alien to the world of Riene.
Story[]
The first summoner was seen as an aberration; an anomaly whose existence was unique among the magically-inclined race. It was thought that if the summoner were refused the right to breed, it would be the last the world would see of them.
However, another summoner sprouted halfway around the world. Foreign rulers saw the summoner's power as being a god-sent weapon which they intended to use to change the world by conquering it.
The Summoned Creatures[]
At first, there was only one summoned creature. A being of such might as to inspire fear in all things, some regarded it as a demon or an angel. As more summoners began to appear, they came to understand that they could summon creatures that were inherently linked to each summoner. As the layperson would say, with each summoner born, a new creature existed for the summoning. The Summoning Wars were ostensibly begun to eradicate the first seven before more exotic creatures could be manifested. Truth be told, it was yet another excuse to lay siege to other realms. The wars succeeded in wiping out the summoners, all save one whose dying breath was used to will his powers into the masked assassin, Silas LePeche.
Later historians would name the summoners, the demons, and the ritual: the Covenant.
